What Actually is Dedicated Hosting?
When we speak of hosting servers, there are three major varieties - hosting servers, VPS (virtual private hosting servers) and dedicated servers. Shared hosting web servers accommodate a lot of clients and thus the resources per hosting account are restricted, VPS give you more server configuration liberty, but also influence other virtual servers on the hardware node if used heedlessly, and dedicated servers offer you the autonomy to perform everything you wish without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you require a dedicated servers?
Dedicated servers are usually much more high-priced than shared hosting servers or virtual servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The explanation is pretty simple. If your firm has a high resource-demanding web site, or just has very specific server configuration requirements, the most relevant option is a dedicated servers. For somebody who is prepared to invest in security and reliability, the greater price is not a concern. You gain full server root privileges and can use 100% of the dedicated hosting web server's system resources without anyone else using these system resources and messing with your sites.
Hardware specifications
The majority of hosting corporations, including us at HostRite, provide different hardware configurations you can select from in accordance with your necessities. The hardware configurations include different sorts of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and server hard drive sizes and different bandwidth allowances. You can select a hosting Control Panel, which is a useful GUI if you would like to use the dedicated servers for web hosting purposes solely and prefer not to resort to an SSH client for all the modifications you will be making. We provide three types of Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The Control Panel of your choosing
If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our dedicated servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated servers through SSH only. That, however, could be awkward, especially if you wish to give complete root access to someone else who has less technical expertise than yourself. That is why having web hosting CP software pre-activated is a good idea. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel software tool that we provide does not include root privileges and is mostly suitable for someone who maintains many web sites that devour plenty of system resources, but wants to manage the web portals, databases and mails using an easy-to-use web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, grant root-level access and include 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting accounts instead of using the dedicated servers just for yourself, you should select one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In the event of a problem with your server, such as an unresponsive Apache or a network outage, it is good to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at HostRite the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers as well. Backups are also an additional feature - the web hosting provider offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would allow you to store the same data on 2 server hard disks as a precaution in the event of a hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted complete server root access erases something unintentionally.
